Greeted as friends of the revolution, are the military about to betray the protesters of Tahrir Square? Proposals on constitutional reform don’t seem to add up to much: apparently the ‘emergency’ powers might be amended not reformed, and as if to signal that the ‘old guard’ are still in charge, women have been excluded from constitutional reform meetings. Add to this the bully boys are back on the streets. Is Egypt being stage managed into a state of lawlessness so that the military can ride to the rescue? Is this a military takeover by the back door?
Egypt – a cynical betrayal?
